Personas

A persona is you in the story: a name and a couple of lines about yourself that the character knows about you. One persona can be a brave knight, another a new roommate. The character calls you by the persona’s name and takes its description into account.

Don’t confuse persona and character

A character (called a “chatbot” on the site) is who you talk to. A persona is who you are.

✏️ Creating a persona

1. In the left menu, click Create → New Persona, or open My Personas and click Create new Persona.

2. Add an avatar: upload a picture (JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF or AVIF up to 5 MB) or click Generate.

3. Enter a name — up to 20 characters. This is what the character will call you.

4. Fill in the description: how your persona would describe itself. It is used only in your chats so that the AI knows who it is talking to.

5. Tick Set as default Persona if you want it to be picked for new chats automatically, and click Save.

What a good description looks like

Short and to the point — one or two sentences: age, looks, personality, role in the story. For example: “Emma, 24, an artist whose hands are always stained with paint. She has just moved to the city and doesn’t know anyone here.” A long description uses up the conversation memory and doesn’t make the replies better.

🎭 Starter personas

A new account already has two personas — Henry and Emma. You can edit them to suit you or delete them if you don’t need them.

⭐ Default persona

The default persona is selected automatically when you start a new chat. In My Personas, the default persona is marked with a filled bookmark icon in the top left corner of its card. To make another persona the default, hover over its card and click this icon. You can also tick Set as default Persona when creating a persona.

🔄 Changing the persona in a chat

Before a chat starts, you choose the persona on the character page. In a chat that is already going, open the side panel and click Personas. In the “Choose Persona” window, click the card of the persona you want and then Save. You can also create a new persona there.

Caution

Changing the persona in the middle of a story can confuse the narrative: the character already knows you by another name. If you want to play a different role, it is better to start a new chat.

The starter personas Henry and Emma count toward the limit too.

If your subscription ends and you have more personas than the new plan allows, nothing is deleted: all your personas stay, but you can’t create a new one until there is room.

🗑️ Deleting a persona

You can delete a persona in My Personas: hover over its card and click in the top right corner. To change a persona, click its card. Your chat history with a deleted persona is kept, and you can continue those chats as another persona.

• You can’t delete the default persona: first make another one the default.
• A deleted persona can’t be restored.

The character calls me by the wrong name

Check which persona is selected in this chat: side panel → Personas. If the persona changed in the middle of the story, the character may remember the old name — edit its reply or send the command /cmd My name is ….

What happens to my chats if I delete a persona?

The chats stay. You can continue them by choosing another persona.
